Big news this month is that you started daycare when I went back to work on Jan. 2. You go to Four Square (where Brinley goes) 5 days per week, but you seem to really like it. And the staff adores you! There are 11 babies in the room between the mover and non-mover side (you're still a non-mover) but you love to look at all the other babies and "interact" with them. Everyone there cannot get over your big smiles and how happy you are. Daddy and I get the most adorable pictures through the app and it makes us feel good that you're so well taken care of when we can't be there.
We haven't weighed and measured you lately, but at your last dr's appt in Dec. you were still in the upper 90th percentiles for height and just barely on the chart (at 99th percentile) for head circumference. You're in the upper 60th percentile for weight so a very long peanut but not super heavy! ;)
You're almost exclusively in 9 month clothes now, but some 12 month outfits still fit as well as some 6 month outfits. Baby clothes are weird like that! Mama has been putting you in all of the same outfits even though you have a TON of clothes with tags on them, but it's just easier to do sleepers with feet in the cold here then try and deal with baby booties or socks that keep falling off. I don't think you mind though, but it's a little funny that you probably only wear 1/8th of the clothes you own!
You're still eating about every 3 hours during the day but sometimes you're not as interested, but we think it's a distracting phase. Since starting daycare you've done a ton more bottles and so sometimes I think you prefer a bottle over mommy feeding you. We are still nursing though as mommy loves that special time with you.
We are still figuring out the sleeping thing at night, but your bedtime has gone to pretty much 8 p.m. consistently. You eat right before 8 and then typcially sleep until 2 or 3 a.m. and then eat one more time. I then try and feed you at 7 a.m. before Daddy takes you and Brinley to school at 7:30. Sometimes you eat good at that 7 a.m. feeding, other times you're not interested. We are trying to work it out so that you sleep from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. every night and don't eat in between... It's a process though!
We also still have you in the pack and play in our room as Mommy likes you close. But we are getting to that point when you are going to need more of your own space, and quiet to sleep. We are just waiting for you to roll both ways more consistently as it makes Mommy nervous when you sleep on your tummy.
That has been the other big news, on Dec. 10, you rolled for the first time from back to front. You were just past 5 months old. Mommy even got it on video! You were playing on the floor and angled your head just so and flipped back over. You could tell you were a bit startled by what just happened. Since then, I've only seen you do it a couple of times, which is why I want you to get a bit better before we have you sleep in the crib all night by yourself.
You do love your crib though and nap pretty good in it. You are starting to take a longer nap in the afternoon and sleep anywhere from 1 to 3 hours. It's kind of funny how relaxed we've been with your schedule vs. Brinley's but we know it all works out so are happy to let you take the lead, as long as you're eating well, growing well and sleeping at night, that's all we care about!
You're getting a lot stronger too. You can lift yourself up really high when you're on your tummy and have even begun to scoot yourself backwards. We've also seen you push up on your knees a couple of times. I think you'll be crawling here soon! We have it on our to-do list to finish baby proofing and get the baby gate up at the top of the stairs...
You're still great at putting yourself to sleep. We lay you down in the crib or pack and play and you immediately roll to your side or tummy and then maybe fuss for a few minutes but then fall right asleep. You're such an angel!
You're now grabbing everything and putting everything in your mouth. You've got pretty good hand/eye coordination too and can pick up a lot of objects. You've also started to become interested in our plates, either to pick up and chew on the plate itself or to try and grab the food off of it. We still aren't feeding you anything yet and plan to wait a bit longer. Mommy's milk is the best (and easiest!) so sticking to that for awhile.
You also can't sit up on your own quite yet but are getting stronger. You can kind of sit but then end up toppling forward. :)
We are still battling cradle cap and have been dealing with some random rashes as well. We think you might have had fifths disease too, but not sure. All of us were sick (Daddy with the flu) for most of December so it's been nice having you get healthy these past few weeks. You've only run a fever once and it was a mild one. (Knock on wood)
You are such a beautiful girl, Becca, and daddy and I talk all the time about how incredible cute you are! You are such a sweetheart as well, and always give us big smiles and giggles. When you're wearing a button-up sleeper you think it's hilarious when mommy unbuttons it super fast. You laugh and laugh!
You're such a snuggler and such a joy. You and Mommy are still best buddies and often Daddy takes care of Brinley and I take care of you. Your cheeks are so incredibly kissable and we love to shower you with love!
A couple of weeks ago Mommy went on a quick overnight trip to New York and Daddy got to hang out with you and Brinley. He loved spending all of that time with you and said the two of you really bonded. You light up when you see your sissy or your daddy too. My heart is just so full of love for our precious family of four. We are so thankful for you Becks!
