Oh sweet girl, I can't believe how fast this year flew by!
Seriously, a year in my life had never gone faster. It's been so amazing though watching you grow and you feel like you've always been a part of our family. It's like we were just waiting for you to get here!
Looking back at your 11 month post, the biggest change has definitely been in your physical movement. From your first steps in July, to cruising around with a walker in August and then taking your first "official" walk on our way up to Canada in early September, you've become quite the mover.
It was also the cutest thing, when we got you your first pair of shoes, you absolutely loved them. You have a strange fascination with shoes in general, actually and love to go pick them up and carry them around. Especially Mommy's, ha! You were very proud of your shoes and even though you like to pull them off (along with your socks) we know you like them. One day before you were really walking full time you "insisted" mommy put your shoes on for school. You cried and fussed every time I put them down and didn't calm down until I put them on your feet. We can tell you've already got some very strong opinions, little one!
You are still an amazing eater and we can't keep up with you when we feed you! Just this past weekend (actually at almost 14 months) you got your very first kids meal at Chipotle and almost ate the whole thing yourself! That was also your first taste of Apple juice and boy were you hooked!
We've been working on transitioning you away from bottles since you turned one but it's been hard as you really love them and we love keeping you a baby for a little while longer (and for some reason, having bottles still just seems to help with that). After you turned one we went down to three bottles a day (morning, midday and evening) and now we are down to just two. You definitely make up for losing the bottle calories with all of the extra eating but you still don't love to drink water or milk out of a sippy. However, we've stopped using formula in the bottles and if we warm the whole milk up a bit you do like it out of the bottle.
Meat and veggies are still your fav, followed by fruit. You do eat some carbs but are not super into it. You liked your cake okay, but weren't that excited about it. The other day Brinley and I made brownies and we gave you a taste and you practically leapt towards the pan!
You love to play little games with us and are still such a happy girl. You like Peek a Boo and will initiate it now. You also love to grab my hair and laugh and laugh when I yelp! One night the other day we were saying the word blue (you would say it, then I would say it) and we'd laugh and laugh. It was wonderful!
You absolutely LOVE books. We always get pics of you reading books at school and we have this little yellow bin of books that if we stick it in your crib you'll sit and read happily so Mommy can get ready or we can steal a few more minutes of sleep. One of your favorite things to do is go grab a book and bring it to us and then back into our lap so we will read it to you. It's one of the sweetest things ever and I hope you never lose you love of reading!
You also have a love of chairs and love to sit on the little chair and school and any little stoop or step you can find. It's like you want to carve out your own special place in the world already!
You are going through a bit of a stranger fear phase and Mommy and Daddy are still your favorite (followed by your big sister). You hug onto us pretty tight and we don't want you to be scared, but secretly love the extra love and snuggles. Your hugs are the absolute best!
You are also a bit more fearful and cautious than your sister was at this age. Today I took you to the aquarium and you got very scared a couple of times at the fish in the tanks. I was more than happy to hold you though. :)
You are very curious though and are constantly moving and exploring. You also like to point and "talk" and tell us about whatever you see.
You can say a lot more words now and I swear, after you got your walking down your vocabulary skyrocketed. It was the same with your sister too. You now say Momma, Dadda, Bree-Bree (for Brinley), Birdie, Dog Dog, Sit, Book, Ball, and a few others that I'm probably forgetting. We can already tell you are super smart and we love watching you discover the world.
Oh what a year it has been with you our sweet baby Becks! We couldn't be more grateful for the wonderful gift that is YOU!
Welcome to our blog! Matt and I were married on Sept. 18, 2009 and welcomed our first baby, Brinley Joy, on June 9, 2013.
