Cabin Time

Matt and I are very fortunate to have two awesome cabins to be able to visit in the summer. My mom and Garry are on Butternut lake, near where my Grandma grew up in Price County, WI and Matt's parents have a place on an island up on Lake of the Woods in Canada.

We were hopeful that we'd be able to have lots of cabin time this summer, even with a newborn. Matt was able to be home this summer as well and I just couldn't let the opportunity for family vacation time slip by.

Most people thought that my travel hopes were pretty crazy, but I remained optimistic. And low and behold, we have an incredibly easy angel baby who started sleeping 4-5 hour chunks at night after about 3 weeks. She also loves her car seat, so we decided to give it a shot and kicked off our cabin tour the first weekend in July. We then went to Wisconsin again for a family reunion, back up to the Butternut cabin and then rounded out July/early August with a trip up to Canada.

Brinley did really great on the trips and our eating/sleeping routine pretty much stayed the same. She got to go on a few boat rides and got lots of cuddles from grandmas and grandpas, aunts and uncles and cousins. We are so grateful for the opportunity to have been able to take all of these trips and we have a lot of precious memories with family. It was an incredible month and one that I'm not sure when we'd ever have the chance to do again!

My Dad being silly at the family reunion

Tracing my family history back many generations at the family reunion. Super cool! Our family tree covered the entire side of a barn! Brinley was 8th generation. Crazy.

Happy hour out on the point, lots of fun!
Brinley was quite the source of entertainment in the cabin

Grace took me around the island on the kayak to get some great pics
My big walleye which I was trying to get the courage to take off of the line. Matt and his dad said we weren't going anywhere until I took it off myself but I dipped the pole in the water and he swam away on his own. Dodged that bullet!
