8 months!

It's hard to believe that yet another month has passed and we are already 2/3 of the way to celebrating one whole year with our sweet little princess!

Oh Brinley Joy, how much you have grown and changed this month! It has been a record setting past few weeks of major "firsts" for you including your first two teeth, first time standing up in your crib, mastering the pincher grasp with your "O's" and the really big one, first time CRAWLING!

You have come alive so much this month and are quite the little explorer. From the moment you wake up in the morning until the moment you close your eyes at night, you are exploring absolutely everything. You love to grab anything within your reach and it always ends up in your mouth. A good trick we've found is if we keep your paci in your mouth you tend to eat other things that you aren't supposed to eat a lot less ; )

For awhile there, you could only move by crawling backwards, scooting and rolling to things but then one day you figured out how to move your arms and legs forward together and there has been no stopping you ever since! You are quite fast and love your new found independence. When you start to crawl away from us, we call out to you "where is Brinley going" or "we are going to get you" and you get so excited that you fall down and just start moving your arms and legs really fast and giggle. It is super adorable. It's like you try and go faster but can't quite do it so you end up stuck. It's a handy little trick though for stopping you from getting away from us.

Just a few days after you crawled for the first time, you stood for the first time in your crib. Mommy checked the monitor in the morning when I heard you wake up and sure enough, you were standing up! We lowered the crib right away so you didn't try and climb out, but now you love standing whenever you can. We have a little play pen downstairs and you love to stand up and hang on to the gates.

Another major development has been your ability to communicate and respond to us. You are waving and clapping a lot and try and imitate what Mommy and Daddy do. You also can raise your hands up in the air for "so big" as well as lift your arms up when you want us to pick you up. I think you're going to get even better at interacting with us very soon.

You are also quite the talkative little bug and are constantly chattering away. Daddy and I have a sneaky feeling that you're going to be quite the little talker, just like Mommy was. You make the cutest little ba ba ba and pa pa pa sounds, we could listen to you all day! You also like to blow bubbles with your mouth (raspberries as Grandma Ann says) as well as stick out your tongue and make motor sounds.

You've become a much better eater this month. Your favorite foods by far are what Mommy and Daddy call Brinley "O's" they are dissolvable organic rice puffs in veggie superfoods flavor. Yum! They are actually kind of gross tasting, Uncle James and I tried one, but Daddy refuses. He's kind of a wimp when it comes to baby food! You pick them up yourself and like to shove tons of them in your mouth. You get super excited when eating them and love to talk up a storm.

Your other favorite foods include yogurt (you and Mommy split one for breakfast) as well as orange veggies, including sweet potatoes, carrots and squash. You also like almost anything frozen that we can put in your mesh feeder. You are very independent and like to eat things yourself, vs. have Mommy and Daddy feed you. You like it best when we give you the spoon so you can try and feed yourself. Sometimes you end up grabbing the food with your hands, or missing your mouth, but you do end up eating some of it! And as the Duggar's say, practice makes progress, right?

Favorite toys continue to be your bath toys, especially the rubber duckies. In fact, we are certain your favorite animal is a duck because whenever you see them on TV, at the zoo or outside, you always smile and giggle.

You also enjoy playing with Mommy and Daddy, including peek-a-boo, "where's daddy" or riding on our shoulders. You also really like it when Daddy speaks in funny accents. "Perhaps the diaper..."

As far as stats, you weigh about 18 lbs, and are around 27-28 inches long. You are wearing a size 3 diaper, but almost into a size 4. You are pretty much all in 12 month clothes now, but some of your 6-9 month onesies still fit. Daddy finally made me put all of the 3 months white onesies away this month as they were getting pretty snug.

You continue to be the happiest little girl and absolutely everyone loves you! You are constantly smiling, giggling and just genuinely happy. So many people comment that they have never seen a happier baby. It looks like the name "joy" fits you well.

Happy 8 months baby girl! We are so thankful for you everyday and we couldn't love you more!

Had to put this one up as well, she's so stinkin cute even when she's crying! : )

This chair is becoming increasingly dangerous! Trying to leap off already!
