Before I post some pictures, here's a rundown of the evening. Guests were given their character assignments and information about their characters before the party. Then they all arrived in costume, ready to play the game. The game was called Murder at the Four Deuces and the setting was the opening of a 1920's speakeasy in Chicago. Don (Lior) and Mimi Wannabee (Taylor) were opening a brand new club and everyone who was anyone in the Chicago mob scene was there. This included Don "Big Jim" Ravioli (Matt) who was the head of the "family" in Chicago. He was joined by his new wife, Carrie Crooner-Ravioli (Nicole) and his ex-wife Vicky Ravioli (Jess). Also there was Rebecca Ravioli (Christina) and the New York mobster who was actively courting her, Capo "Toto" Tequila (Patrick). Big Jim's mother, Baroness Ravioli (Jeni) also graced us with her presence along with her love interest, Inspector Neville "the Nose" Nutella. And it wouldn't be a mob scene withougt Al Capone (Seth), secret lover of the newly wed Carrie Crooner. Donna Wannabe (Melanie), Don's sister, was also there reporting a very recent and suspicious burglary that involved Rebecca Ravioli and the murder weapon.
After everyone arrived at the party and had a chance to mingle for awhile, Big Jim got up to make a speech when all of the sudden the lights went out (Matt and I had rehearsed this and I really did cut the power from the electrical box in the garage.) Then all of a sudden, Big Jim was dead and everyone was a suspect! The next several hours were spent questioning and bribing other characters for information. There were even four weapon cards that were used to commit murder and it was so fun watching all of the deals go down.
Logistically, Matt and I had set the party up so that the food and desserts were on the two different levels of our house. We thought this would free up more space and get people moving around more. It actually worked out pretty well because upstairs is where Don, Capo and Al plotted and schemed.
Then at the end of the night we found out who the murderer was, Rebecca, and then voted on best costume (Jeni) and best actor (Patrick).
Everyone agreed that the party was a ton of fun. And there is a sequel, so who knows, maybe we will all have to revisit the Four Deuces sometime soon!
Inspector Nutella checking out Barnoness Ravioli
The murderess and her love interest Capo
Two of the best players of the game, Don and Meme Wannabee. Meme walked away the richest player of the evening after all of her scheming and bribing!
Al Capone and Carrie Crooner-Ravioli, I felt so bad, my character had to call Carrie a "gold-digging floozy" at every opportunity so I was forced to badger poor Nicole!
You don't want to mess with these guys!
Love this, Seth and Matt snuck off to the "future room" a couple of times to leave the 1920's and check up on the "futuristic" Cowboys game!
Big Jim and his ex-wife. But don't worry, after Big Jim's murder Matt came back and played Darrin Toolsteal who was madly in love with Vicky! ; )
All the ladies
Studly men
Don coming down the stairs after making a big deal. Looks a bit suspicious doesn't he?
Silly faces. Matt's was on purpose.
Josh's was not, but it's still funny!
That looks like it was a lot of fun! Dana and I wish we lived close enough to join in. Lookin' sharp, Matty!
